Kemah is a pick-your-own blueberry farm and purveyor of products which enhances one's enjoyment of blueberries and rural life.

For over thirty years, customers have come to the farm in Alexandria to pick berries and enjoy the fruit of their labor. Each year hundreds of people take a pilgrimage along the back roads of New Hampshire to visit the farm, enjoy the scenery and to pick luscious berries to take home and create a variety of yummy products.

In order to enhance their experience Kemah is now offering a variety of practical, fun blueberry related products including books, clothes and novelties.

Harry & Mildred Brown

The farm was named "Kemah" by the farm founders Harry and Mildred Brown who purchased the property in 1948. Kemah is a native American word meaning "wind in my face" .The berry farm itself was founded in 1984. Harry and Mildred were ole'Yankees who had a strong kinship with the land, their neighbors and nature, Harry was noted as dowser and story teller. Mildred was known for her genuine hospitality.

The farm is now managed by their son, Stephen and their daughter Deb Provost and their spouses, Mike Provost and Patrica Williams. The family continues on with the traditions of the past, such as operating on the honor system and promoting conservation.

The farm is about 85 acres with the plantation itself being about one acre.

The blueberries are carefully nurtured. No pesticides are used. Native pollinators are encouraged, and bird houses border the fields.

The farmstead is used by family members and rented out to those who care for the place and the environment wihin it is set.

For the past 25 years the farm has been the location of the Boy Scout Troop 39 of Halifax, MA campout.

New guests are encouraged to come to Kemah pick berries in a country setting and enjoy viewing Mt Cardigan. Kemah is open to all.
